Novermber, Fall is here.
Last month was a whirl wind! I got to participate in the Spartan World Championships,(as a commoner, so much fun!). Lucy had a birthday party. Visited the pumkin patch. We went to Utah.Watched Frozen on ice And we celebrated Halloween. Not to mention new school pictures. Where to start!
Lucy turned 4 on the 4th! We had a party for her on the 10th. Rented a bounce house, she was thrilled, and invited lots of friends and family. Party was a hit. Birthday girl...acted like all toddler birthday girls, we ate cake, hit a pinata and I believe it was a hit, thanks to the bounce house and My Little Pony accessories .
Made the anual trip to the pumkin patch. I was walking with Lucy and I mentioned going to pick out pumpkins and she asked me if we were going to go with Kimberly like we did "yesterday". I was suprised she remembered that from last year! So I gave Kimberly a call, she and Justin joined us in our pumpkin hunt. I think she was a little over whelmed by the size of the fields of pumpkins and it took her a while and a pit stop in the field to decide, with some help. Which pumpkin we should take home. Though the star of the trip wasn't the pumpkins for th corn pit! I had to drag her out of there!
We ran down to Utah for Charlie's baby blessing. Got to visit everyone including Dad. Lucy and Luke seem to enjoy playing with each other.
When we got back Lucy had her 4 year wellness check and surpasses expectations...except for memorizing her address and phone number. Which we are working on. I was suprised how quickly she picked up on the address. Our only issue now is getting her to say it in the correct order. While at the Dr. she was bouncing around and playing. The Dr. had a bunch of questions, one being, does she talk in compleate sentences. And I said yes, after all the questions we measured and weighed her. Checked her eyes and then proceeded with the check up. She sat up on the table and proceeded to tell the Dr a long story about her mom and papa and that she has a sister at her papa's house. The Dr. burst out laughing in the middle and said well my warm up time must be over! She talks extreamly well! She was really good about shots. I was a super proud mama.
Had the opportunity to see Frozen on Ice with Crystal and Lily. The girls had a good time. I kept telling Lucy we were going to see Frozen and they were going to play it out in real life on an ice stage and she acted like she understood, and was excited. but then we got there! Oh the wonder of Disney. She was so cute! She was pretty captivated with all of it, I think it was the most still she's ever sat.
Halloween! We were Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash and Frank was Princess Celecia. First we went to our ward Trunk or treat. Lucy was shy would barely say trick or treat and thank you. After a hot dog and a package of m & m's we moved onto our friends trunk or treat. I think the m & m's kicked in becuase she go the hang of it and quicky started saying trick or treat and thank you very loudly and would then report to me what they had given her. Either chocolate or candy and tell me Halloween was her favorite ever! After that we hit a few houses. The weather was perfect! One house had a few halloween statutes. Lucy was scared, saying mom, hold me! I held her hand and we bravely went to the door and back to the street. A couple houses later we came to one that was elaboratly decorated, there was a body hanging from the ceiling and a lady dressed up as a witch with glowing eyes and green skin. Lucy didn't even blink. Walked right up and said trick or treat! Seriously?! We came home with way too much candy and a very happy Pinkie Pie.
Lucy is so much fun. It's unbelievable how much she grows and learns day to day. She is also free with whats on her mind, it makes me laugh. One of my favorite things is when she's gotten in trouble and a few hours later she tells me all about it and how she wont do it again because of -insert her penalty here- and then she'll say sorry. She sure does love Frank, I love watching her play with him. She will attempt to share things with him as if he was a person, or she likes to tie blankets to his collar to make him a "scape!". He takes all ther loving very well.
Funny to think that 4 years ago tomorrow, we brought Lucy home. I remember putting her car seat on the coffee table, sitting down and thinking, Wow there's a baby in our house, who let us take her home?
I don't think I can count the ways my life has changed in the past 4 years. And I constantly question how time has passed so quickly.
She is my pride and joy. I don't think that there is another way to say it. Its scary, I can see myself in her, the good and scary, but the bad.
Fall is here! Lucy moved into the big kid class...I cried a little. I now completly understand the meaning of bitter sweet. It is so sweet to see her grow up and learn so much. She is so bright and happy, but it's so sad to see her grow up so fast! She becomes more and more independent and needs me less and less...
We went to the fair for the first time. Lucy was feeding the goats when this sheep came out of no where, stuck his nose in her cup and then ripped it our of her hand backed up tilled the cup back ate all the grain in it and then ate the cup. It happened so fast she and I were both standing there, stuned! What just happened! It was pretty funny. She also begged and begged to ride th ponies. I told her I wasn't sure if I had enough cash, and she repied theres more in your purse... I finally gave in. I put her on the pony and she freaked out. I had to hold her up on the pony and walk along side and she loved it. She's so funny.
One of my favorite things is that she looks at books till she falls asleep. There are nights that she falls asleep with her book open like she's still reading it. And when she's awake she loves her books, she is always reading and making up her own stories to them.
Lucy stared dance again, Ballet and Tap. She did so well! We had a talk in the car and I asked her if she really loved dance and if she really wanted to keep taking classes because I wouldn't make her do them. She told me she really loved dancing and wanted to go to class. So I told her that she had to pay attention to the teacher, listen directions and do what her teacher does. She was so cute.
Went to McCall for Labor Day. We kayaked the little river/ inlet and played on th beach for a while. Got dinner and some icecream and headed home. It was a fun play day.
My Lucy! What a month!
I am constantly surprised by her memory. She was telling me how she road in the car with me and her papa and we fixed her fingers and then she had to go to the doctor and he made them better. It took me a minute to realize she was talking about her fingers getting stepped on at the ice skating rink back in January.
She is starting to sight read! Which is crazy, I was listening to her the other night and was really impressed. I guess that goes with the good memory.
One morning while I was getting ready for work she packed up a picnic for us, toys, string cheese and water. It was cute, I had to tell her we needed to wait till after work, and as soon as she came home she grabbed the bags she packed and was standing by the back door ready for our picnic. So we went out side ate our string cheese, drank our water and played with our ponies.
She got to got to girls camp with me, and was spoiled! All the girls and the bishop played and played with her. At the end if she didn't like the way you played with her ponies she would take them and give them to someone else the played right. It was funny and surprising! She had a blast.
I taught her how to play candyland, and she cheats! She puts the spinner where she wants it, either on a double color or a place to skip ahead! My favorite is when she casually moves her piece ahead. I guess she's a bit competitive...
Went to the zoo. She loves feeding the goats, but shes funny because she doesn't like to feed the pushy ones she looks for the one on the end that can't get in on the action and when another goat comes in and pushes in she wont feed it! Its pretty interesting how determined she is to feed the meek ones. She also loved the butterflies this year. No trying to step on them or anything this year!
Lucy started dance class, Its a 45 min ballet and tap class. It seems to be perfect, they get to focus on each dance and its just short enough that she doesn't lose interest. She had a friend in her class and She seems to be catching on pretty quickly.
She's been able to write her name for a while now and likes to write random letters and tell me what it says. I went through all her coloring books and stuff while she was at her dad's house and found 8 completely colored, coloring books! I'm going to go broke keeping her in art supplies! I love it! She loves to color, draw and write, and its so good for her little brain and other little skills.
She is a grateful little thing. I will get her something new- anything and days later she will randomly say "thank you so much for -insert item here-, I love it! Thank you!" I love it. I love that she is aware of new little things in her life and expresses gratitude.
She is getting so tall! I keep looking at her and I don't see a baby or even a toddler, She is a little kid.
I love the games she makes up, I don't always love trying to play with her...she will hand me a pony or princess and say make her talk mom! And I am so not creative in the land of imagination... normally I say its a nice day or you're so cute or hi, how's it going. Sometimes she will tell me what I should day, tired nights it makes playing with her much easier.
She also likes me to color with her. I love it!
Her favorite food is still mac n' cheese, kid clif bars, chocolate yogurt and broccoli.
Lucy is continues to love her ponies, princesses and Frank. She asks me almost daily for an Ariel doll with a tail. I keep telling her I will trade her 3 dry morning diapers but she has yet to deliver.
She is really good at helping me and doing little chores around the house and cleaning her room.
She is almost always happy, and the bright spot in everyday.
