March

Hello, March!
Have I mentioned that this little girl is a puzzle wiz? She LOVES puzzles, and she does them pretty fast. I'm always impressed. I feel like she had grown lots this past little while but at the same time nothing really changes- She is happy, loves to go shopping, play at the park, go on walks, chase the animals, paint or color, play with toys and just hang out.
She is slowly getting more sassy, talks back and likes to argue. Drives me crazy! Half the time she argues and doesn't even know what shes saying or argues when I'm agreeing with her... I wonder what the teenage years will look like- hehehe...yikes
She loves Frank and Mittens, I am constantly surprised by the amount of patience they have for her.
This month it seems like she smacked her mouth on everything. Her little lip would heal and then she'd hit it on something else. I am thankful she hasn't broken her little teeth out-
She is learning left and right- when we drive she will ask me and sometimes tell me we are turning - left or right. She will also comment on red lights and green lights- I think she got that from "Go, Dog, Go" Thanks Dr. Susse-
She sleeps in her bed all night every now and again- the other morning she came running into my room and said " I slept in my bed all night!", I said "good job!" and then she said "I peed my bed" runs back in her rooms and yells "mom are you gonna clean that up?" Which I said "yes, and you're gonna help me" And she tells me "oh, that's gross, mom"- welcome to my life kid.
We went and watched her cousin, Lily dance in Snow white- I think she liked it. She said she wanted to be a ballerina for a couple of days after.
She still loves her my little ponies and princesses, but has started playing with stuffed animals a little bit more which is nice since she has a lot of them.
There are times I look around at my messy house and think "what a mess" and there are times I look around and realize that one day, (that will come all together to soon I will miss this). I will miss toys in the bath tub and finding my little ponies in every room of my house. So I remind myself to smile and enjoy it while it lasts.

Happy Valentine's Day

Let Lucy pick her own cards. I was a little surprised she picked My Little Ponies, just because there was Frozen and Princess cards too. She was pretty happy with her choice. I had her sign them herself which I have to say was pretty stinkin' cute. She wanted to sign all the Princess Celstia and Rainbow Dash cards first.

Winter Carnival

Hoping to find the sun we headed up to McCall to see the winter carnival. We struck out on the sunshine but we still had a good time. Lucy was a trooper. I knew she'd be good but I was a little apprehensive that I would end up carrying her. She walked up and down the streets and loved every minute of it. She would stomp through puddles and any fresh snow that we came across. There were a few sculptures she said were scary but over all I think the giant cake and snowman were her favorite.
We walked through town and then went ice skating. We went around the rink 3 times in 45 minutes... so she's not the next Michelle Kwan. But we had a good time. At one point she laid on the ice and asked me if we were done yet. unfortunately we had to get to the other end of the rink to the exit but she skated along and had a good time.
We went to a little sandwich shop and made a stop at the candy store. I let her pick out a treat, she was so excited but couldn't decide what she wanted. It took a little bit of running back and forth between the cases of chocolates for her to decide on a chocolate covered marshmallow with a red heart on it. She then proudly carried it through town, ate all the chocolate off of it and handed me the left over marshmallow and stick, telling me she was sharing and I could have the rest. (lucky me, I know)
It was a great day, nice to get away from town.
Past times I felt like it was everything I can do to appear "normal" like everything was under control and I wasn't stressed out of my brain. But recently I feel like we have found our groove. The stressers and worries are there, but there is acceptance, things are what they are and we will get to where we need to be, when we need to be there, and that brings a feeling of calm. No, I don't have it all figured out just yet, but things are coming together and our little life that we have now is good. We're gonna be fine.

February

Another month has some how snicked up on me!
This little girl is a busy one!
It is funny how quickly things change. Last year we would go to the park and I had to climb and slide down everything with her. This year, she could care less what I am doing as long as I am at the bottom of the slide to catch her.
She sings and sings. It is crazy how fast she picks up on lyrics. My music or Disney's.
She has also started to name things. In the past a baby doll was just a baby. and a stuffed animal like a bear was just "bear"
We've started night time potty training. And.....its.... going. The other morning she woke up and in her sing song voice and says to me "mom, guess what! I didn't pee in your bed!" It diffidently beats waking up damp.
She likes to try and "braid" my hair, which normally ends up with my hair in knots and 10 mini rubber bands in it. But it makes her happy- who knows maybe we have another cosmetologist in the making.
Lucy talks about everything! I mean everything and she picks up on things I say as well, even when I don't think she is paying attention she is.
Had a mini accident at the ice rink this month. She had her finger stepped on with a skate. Sliced her little finger and freaked me out! She was a trooper. Didn't really cry and when I did she said, I'm sorry mom, I'm okay- I always think I can keep my cool in any situation but this threw me- well the blood is what really through me. Her fingers have healed very quickly. There is one nail that is on the verge of falling off, she talks about making sure it stays on every now and again.
Lucy learned how to ski this month. Her dad took her up a couple of times and from what I hear she is a natural and she loves it.
She also dresses herself. Sometimes with my help, but she generally knows what she wants to wear- which still doesn't include tights or leggings.
The other day after watching Frozen I asked her who was her favorite, She told me it was Elsa- So I asked her why and she said- because she has a sparkly dress- obviously. (That's totally how I pick my friends too)
I figured out that she does not like surprises. She has always done well with a schedule, and even now for the most part if I tell her what we are going to do it goes a lot smoother, and that I have to follow up on what I say we're going to do. The other day I said we would go for a run. Come to find out later the stroller has a flat tire so I told her we wouldn't be able to go till I got it fixed- which she didn't understand. So we went for a run anyways... in the wind with the flat front tire, which makes the whole stroller wobble like crazy! But I got in some good resistance training so no complaints-

Things I learned this weekend

1- I need to stop yelling "shut up" to the neighbors dog when Lucy is in bed...apparently she doesn't sleep through it...

Lucy, playing with ponies- "shut up! Rainbow dash!"
Me- "what did you just say?"
Lucy- "Rainbow dash is barking"
Me-.....awesome...."We need to say nice things when we are playing, okay?"
Lucy- "okay, but she not being nice"

2- Lucy has some how inherited both of her parents stubborn streaks...

Lucy- "Can I watch ponies? Please!"
Me- "Yes, we can watch 2 ponies after you put on your pull-up and jammies"
Lucy- "PONIES!", " I WANT PONIES!" for about an hour, naked in her room.
Me- "Put your jammies on and we will"
Over and over and over- on and off for about an hour till...
Me- "Lucy! Do you want to watch ponies?!"
Lucy- "YES! MAMO!"
Me- "Great! Put your jammies on and we will!"
Lucy- "....oh...okay... don't scream at me mamo..."
Me-......really?...

3- Lucy knows all the words to Love is spoken hear and Are you really there. Sweetest thing EVER!

4- Frank is an extremely patient dog

5- I am now called "Mamo" and Chad is "Poppie".

It was a good weekend, no complaints. I swear she grows noticeably older by the day! It's good to slow down and enjoy it. :) For the most part, it sounds funny but I felt like a real adult, I cleaned house, prepped meals, took Lucy to the park, rode bikes, colored and did puzzles, walked Frank, exercised, did some yard work and just enjoyed being around the house and Lucy. Life is good. Routines are feeling normal again.

Lucy and me

I've spent the last couple of days with Lucy. Just her and me, no outside anything. I watch her in awe. It is incredible how big she has gotten. She had strong likes and dislikes. She is independent, but likes to keep a close eye on me and what I'm doing. She is smart and quick. She keeps getting taller and growing. There is a part of me that aches for the days of cuddling her to sleep, or bathing her in the sink. The days before she could sit on Frank and pull his ears, when all she could do is watch him in wonder. Its funny the only way I can get her to wear tights or leggings under her dresses is by promising that she can take them off when she gets home. I love that she has taken an interest in helping me in the kitchen and other small house hold chores like putting away laundry or feeding Frank. Whenever I work out at home she is right there doing it with me. Her latest trick is unlocking the door when we get home. I give her the key and she runs to try and stick it in the door. I love, love, love that she tells me I'm her best friend and that she still wants to cuddle and have me hold her when shes tired or hurt. She is always so happy, no matter what is going on, other outsides stresses hold no weight when I spend a day with her. Making her ponies or barbies talk. building forts, taking pictures, reading books and playing puzzles. Slowing down and just enjoying her and where we are at is so important. I think I realize that everyday. She really is my sunshine.

January

Hello 2015!!! Let's dance.
Lucy, where to start. She is a smart little girl. She grows so fast. She is always happy and talking.
Her favorite things haven't changed much. She loves chicken nuggets and Mac n' Cheese. She still loves to color, play with stickers and draw. She loves to make tents and hide our in random places, behind the curtains. She loves Frank.
Mornings are her happiest time of day. She literally pops up once shes awake and is happy. She pets Frank and talks to him, and then turns to me and asks if Mom's awake yet? And then asks for a bar and milk, somethings don't change. But she will go potty and throw away her pull up and dress herself, I make modifications when needed like when she comes out in a summer skirt and sleeveless shirt, I make her put tights on and layer another shirt. She is rather an independent little thing. She figured out how to open the refrigerator, so I made her a drawer with yogurts, cheese and fruit (apples or grapes) Makes her pretty happy. But I can't keep her out of the fridge now.
The other morning she was in the bathroom and yells "Mom! There's poop coming out of me! LOOK!" Where does she come up with this stuff?
My favorite was the other day I gave her a snack and went to the bathroom. I could her her talking but couldn't quite make out what she was saying when she yells "mom! I'm talking to you!"
She can sit for hours and color or do puzzles. I'll sit with her and color and every once in a while she'll look over and say "oh, you color that for me?" or " wow, you color so good!".
The other day she saw a picture of me with short hair and said "why do you have Dad hair?"
She is always talking and says the funniest things. And she sings some random songs, one day it was Roomer has it and tonight it was Can anybody find me, somebody to love.My favorite was one day at the Solomon's house she was singing It's all about that bass, when her cousin Anna was like she's singing all about that bass! What can I say she has good taste in music.
She's gotten pickier about her hair styles, which kind of cracks me up. But she will specifically ask for an Elsa braid or Anna braids or a pony and sometimes she'll tell me she wants it long and pretty, like a princess.
She is a princess, Sometimes I'll ask her why she's so cute and she'll reply, "no, I'm a princess". She also always comments on what I'm wearing, I think she loves Sunday since we both wear princess dresses.
I can't believe she's going to be a sunbeam! Sometimes it seems like its time and other times I feel like she's still suppose to be my baby.
I look forward to this year and seeing where we are this time next year. So many things have changed in such a short amount of time, its hard to remember everything even with the blog. I love this little girl and am so thankful to have her. She adds so much to my life.
